“筼筜”是个什么湖？

筼（yún）筜（dāng），一种挺拔美丽的竹子。

厦门西南方向有一处渔港，曾因遍植这种翠竹而得名“筼筜港”。每当月斜潮落，渔船归港，灯火绵延，“满江渔火列筼筜”的景象被誉为当地“老八景”之一。

上世纪70年代，厦门向海要地，筑堤围湖，筼筜港成了筼筜湖。没多久，湖周围冒出大大小小100多家企业，全市近半的工业和生活废水都往湖里排。老百姓甚至摸出了排污“规律”：化工厂排的污水，冒着白色气泡；如果是酱油色，八成来自酿酒厂和橡胶厂……

到了80年代，当地经济搞上去了，筼筜湖却成了令人望而生畏的臭水湖，垃圾遍地、蚊蝇滋生、污水横流、鱼虾绝迹。在岸边走一遭，身上的气味半天散不去。
